Team India scored 225/3 in their 36 overs after batting first. Due to multiple interference of rain game was overs was adjusted to 40 overs. The openers got India off to an excellent start as they had a partnership of 113. Dhawan departed before the first rain break, but Gill continued to motor along and had another pivotal partnership with Iyer thereafter. The match was reduced to 40-overs-a-side after the first rain break, but there was another rain interruption when Gill was 98*. The opener had a chance to notch up his maiden ODI century, but unfortunately rain played spoilsport. India’s innings ended on 225/3 in 36 overs and the revised target for the West Indies was a challenging one of 257 in 35 overs. West Indies bowled out for 137 runs in 26 overs and lost the game by 119 runs as per DLS method. A clinical performance by India in the rain curtailed match has helped them clinch a comfortable victory. Defending a stiff total, Mohammad Siraj gave India the perfect start by getting Mayers and Brooks in his first over. West Indies could never recover after those two blows. King and Pooran tried to fight, but both of them got out in the 40s. India kept taking wickets at regular intervals and Chahal finished off the tail with a four-wicket haul. In addition to the the last three wickets, Chahal’s four-fer also included Shai Hope’s wicket. West Indies were never in the contest, and as a result of their disappointing performance they face their ninth successive defeat in ODIs. Skipper Nicholas Pooran scored 42 of 32 balls and Brandon King also scored 42 runs of 37 balls. For Team India, Yuzvendra Chahal picks 4 wickets for 17 runs in his 4 overs.
For his impressive 98* in the third #WIvIND ODI, @ShubmanGill wins the Player of the Match award as #TeamIndia complete the 3-0 cleansweep in the series. 👍 👍
