Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in Hindi in cinemas in my free time as loved the trailer and Marvel superheroes films. Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident after meeting with President Thaddeus Ross. He must soon discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.
Captain America Brave New World picks up from where the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off, however for those who have not watched the series, as a standalone film manages to hold interest. The action sequences of Captain America: Brave New World is a standout. They’re very well-choreographed. The shield work and aerial maneuvering is on point and breathtaking to look at. The acting performances are first rate, with Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford delivering standout performances. The attempt to establish Sam Wilson as the new Captain America is executed reasonably well, giving fans and admirers something new and different to appreciate. The film does manage to keep the Marvel charm, but only to an extent. The 15-minute sequence of the carnage the supervillain wreaked on Washington DC is the film’s highlight, even reminiscent of Norton’s The Incredible Hulk. As CGI Harrison Ford turned into Red Ross Captain America finally has a worthy opponent. Another emotional highlight is a reunion between Sam and Bucky Barnes. Their friendship, tinged with the echoes of Steve Rogers, provides some of the film’s most compelling moments
The plot doesn’t engage much. It lacks the adrenaline rush and the playful banter that made previous Marvel films enjoyable. There’s a noticeable void where Chris Evans used to be, and his absence is felt in every frame. The film tries or rather intends to be serious but ends up flat. The pacing feels off, with too many slow parts that drag the movie down. The Leader isn’t as lethal as one would expect from a Marvel super-villain. The acting keeps it watchable, but the weak visual effects, along with a plot that doesn’t captivate, make for a disappointing experience. On paper, it is a solid Captain America thriller where the soldier-investigator must put together clues and reach the bad guy. The template worked wonderfully in The Winter Soldier and Civil War. Yet, here, it falls flat, largely because of the predictable writing. The screenplay has made a mess of what made Marvel of old engaging. There are twists and turns that you can see from a mile away and red herrings that are not even pale orange. Everything is dumbed down so much that it stops being engaging. The film follows a meandering path where only a few moments jump out at you, such as the cameo from a crowd-favorite antihero, the scenes featuring the tragic Isaiah Bradley and whenever Harrison Ford is on screen. But beyond that, the film fails to make you feel anything.
Overall, movie is weakest film from Marvel Studios. It significantly shakes my confidence in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I was hopeful that the fourth Captain America movie would be able to set things on a solid path. It doesn’t. It’s so insistent on trying to recapture the MCU energy of the past that it fails to offer anything fresh, and it represents a wrong direction for the beloved franchise. If you’re looking for the rush of previous Marvel films, you’ll find this one lacking. This film sets up the future Avengers and X-Men films should set alarm bells ringing in Marvel Studios’ office. Because if this is the tone and quality MCU wants to take into the future, time may be running out for the world’s biggest franchise. My view on this movie Not Recommended.
