Breathe Into the Shadows Season 2 Review: New season had potential and shines in bits but suffers because of an uninspiring narrative
Breathe Into the Shadows Season 2 Web Series Rating: 3 stars
Just watched Breathe: Into the Shadows Season 2 Web Series on Amazon Prime Video. So, let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Amit Sadh, Nithya Menen, Saiyami Kher and Naveen Kasturia
Director: Mayank Sharma
Release Date: 9th November 2022 on Prime Video
Duration: 8 Episodes/ 40 Minutes
Story: The second season starts exactly where season one ended. Avinash Sabharwal (Abhishek Bachchan) continues to struggle with his dual identity. After 3 years, just when the doctors at the medical facility are encouraged by Avinash’s positive recovery but at the same time the doctors tell him in no uncertain terms that he will never walk free. While he’s making peace with it, his alter ego J (Abhishek Bachchan) warns that he will finish what he started and kill everyone who tormented Avinash back in the day.
As he cannot get out, J forces Avi’s wife, Abha Sabharwal (Nithya Menen) to murder the first enemy real estate mogul Neel Bahal. Also, this time he isn’t alone and is accompanied by Victor (Naveen Kasturia) who was helped by J to run away from asylum now helping him to complete his unfinished business. First, he gets him out from Asylum and asked Avinash to finish the job and eliminate rest of Raavan head.
He again starts his killing spree which becomes a headache for the police department. Kabir Sawant (Amit Sadh) takes charge once again in this case. Why did Victor help J? Did J complete his ten killings? Did the police catch hold of him? Why J asked Abha to kill Neel. Why Avinash is forced to do the killings. Watch this series to know the answers.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this web-series it looks interesting and planned to watch on premiere day because loved the previous season and this one also looks engaging.
J’s existence and ideology re-emerge as he sets out to finish what he started, leading Avinash to confront his merging dual identity. But this time around, he has a new partner-in-crime, Victor. Kabir Sawant must now fight the battle of his life as he protects the society that has become a victim in the endgame of this crazed saga.
Besides a few twists that manage to surprise you, the overall narrative fails to engage and enthrall. The story takes time to pick up speed and maintains that for the first few episodes, while none of the dialogues make an impact. Shorter episodes and a tighter screenplay would have helped but this new season might keep you hooked and is worth a watch for the performances. The main issue is that the show becomes predictable in many instances. We already know through season 1 that the antagonist would continue his killings, but the manner in which they are presented here is disappointing. More efforts in writing were required to reduce the predictability. Most of the time, we know what’s going to happen, and this is where the creators should have thrown more surprises to make the show interesting.
While the story doesn’t manage to impress, the performances do. Abhishek Bachchan gives an honest performance and excels especially when he plays J on the screen. Amit Sadh, Nithya Menen and Saiyami Kher remain consistently good as they were in the previous season, however the star of this season is Naveen Kasturia. He shines every time he appears on screen and seems in total control of his act and action as an artist. There are good twists here and there in the series, which are well-placed, and those that come at the end are shocking and unexpected. The second season is kept short, unlike season 1 and becomes an advantage to this crime thriller. The excellent background score makes the viewers more engaged in the show.
On the whole, new season has splendid performances from the lead cast and good twists at places. But the predictability, lack of emotional depth and convenient writing make this new season a passable watch this weekend. You can give it a try if you have watched previous seasons and like watching crime dramas. My view on this web-series is Recommended.
