Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Shahrukh Khan
Director: Ayan Mukerji
Release Date: 9th September 2022
Story: The legend of the Astras is told at the start of the film. They are a gift from the universe and are derived from natural elements (Earth, Wind, Water, Fire). These armaments are disguised as everyday objects that bestow supernatural powers on those wielding them. Sages of the order Brahmansh and their progeny have been guarding the secret of the weapons since ages. Among the astras, the most powerful weapon is Brahmastra, said to carry both the power of creation and destruction within itself. The sages thought that if awakened it could destroy the earth itself and used all their powers to stop that from happening. To protect the world, the Brahmansh split it into three pieces, scattered around India and guarded by three guardians.
The film then cuts to the present day. Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) is Orphan and DJ by profession who leads a happy life, full of light around a bunch of orphaned kids. His special connection with fire as it doesn’t inflame him and a host of visuals that appear before him periodically when he shuts his eyes and suck him into a world of superpowers. He comes across Isha (Alia Bhatt) who is a super rich girl at a Durga Puja pandal and finds an instant connection.
On the other hand, Junoon (Mouni Roy) is the queen of dark forces is also on a quest to get hold of the Brahmastra. Shiva sees that Junoon has killed a scientist Mohan Bhargav (Shah Rukh Khan) and snatching a rare artefact from him. Before dying, Mohan blurts out under pressure that the other part of the artefact is with an artist named Anish Shetty (Nagarjuna Akkineni) who stays in Varanasi.
Shiva realizes that Junoon is all set to target Anish next. Shiva decides to head to Varanasi to warn Anish of the impending danger. Isha also joins him. In Varanasi, Shiva and Isha rescue Anish at the nick of time. Thanks to Anish, they find out that the artefact stolen from Mohan is a part of Brahmastra. There are two more parts of it and Anish has one part. He hands it over to Shiva and Isha and asks them to go to the ashram of Guru (Amitabh Bachchan). He sacrifice his life but Shiva reach to Ashram where he get to know about his parents and his connection with fire. Watch this movie to know about Shiva connection with Brahmastra.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in cinemas because it looks excellent be it story, music or cinematography.
Drawing inspiration from stories in Hindu mythology, the film follows Shiva who is an orphan with pyrokinetic powers who discovers that he is an astra, a weapon of enormous energy. He attempts to prevent the strongest of the astras, the Brahmāstra, from falling into the hands of dark forces that connect to his history.
Brahmastra story is fresh and set in Astra verse. The love story and the story of the Brahmastra are so closely knit that one blends into the other. That’s a fantastic plus point of the story. The drama keeps the audiences engrossed and involved so much that it doesn’t give them a minute to get bored, especially in the first half. Yes, it does dip a bit after interval but that doesn’t much dilute the impact of the well-written screenplay. After the prologue, the first few reels are light and laced with fun, frolic and romance. The element of fun and humour takes a back seat once the story of Brahmastra and Agni Astra starts in full swing. However, even after that story starts in full force, the romantic track keeps moving parallelly. Although there are no tear-jerking emotions, the emotional thread and undercurrent are so strong that they keep the viewers invested in the drama.
The revelation of the back story of Shiva’s parents, the track of the shankh, the visions which Shiva keeps getting are all so wonderful that the audience enjoys them thoroughly. Even though the climax is lengthy but it sustains the interest of the audience because it is very interesting as well as impactful. Direction is very good and has made a unique film for the Hindi film-going audience and has complemented the high-on-visual-effects drama with a heart-touching story, juxtaposing both beautifully. Although narration could have been shorter for more impact. He also kept a lot of questions unanswered, with the hope that they’ll be answered in the sequel. Instead of leaving audiences excited for the second part, it ends up disappointing.
Overall, movie boasts of powerful visuals, performances, a terrific first half, and superior VFX. A stage has now been set and let’s hope Ayan Mukerji doesn’t take five years more to bring out the next installment. My view on this movie Highly Recommended.
