Bob Biswas Review: Interesting thriller but not as effective as expected
Bob Biswas Movie Rating: 2.5 Stars

Finally watched Bob Biswas movie on Zee5 Premium. So let’s focus on the cast, release date story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Chitrangada Singh, Tina Desai and Purab Kohli
Director: Diya Annapurna Ghosh
Release Date: 3rd December 2021 in Zee5 Premium

Story: Bob Biswas (Abhishek Bachchan) has come out of a coma after six years and can’t remember anything from his past. His doctor convinces him that Mary (Chitrangda Singh) is his wife, Benny (Ronith Arora) is his son, and Mini (Samara Tijori) is his daughter. Bob tries his best to adjust thanks to Mary who provides him with all the love and support to sail through this difficult time. He learns that Mini is his stepdaughter and that Mary was earlier married to David (Karanuday Jenjani).

Bob starts trying to lead as normal a life as he can but he is soon approached by two police officers, Jishu Narang (Bhanu Uday Goswami) and Kharaj Sahu (Vishwanath Chatterjee) to commit murders on their behalf, as he used to do in the past. Since Bob doesn’t remember anything about his past and also because his bosses don’t leave him with an option as well as because he needs money to sustain his family, he takes up their assignments, killing people one after the other.

There’s also a track of a drug called Blue, which is very popular with youngsters. Is there any connection between the drug supply chain and the murders? Police investigations ultimately lead them to Bob Biswas because he killed Bubai (Purab Kohli) and Rahul (Kunal Verma) both of whom were in the business of selling a powerful and banned drug. Meanwhile Bob has regained part of his lost memory.

He is aided by a diary he manages to lay his hands upon. What is Bob’s past? What murders had he committed before he slipped into coma? Does the police nab Bob? What happens to him and his family? Watch this movie to know about the details and how Bob character connected with Kahaani movie.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie because watched Kahaani movie and it is spin-off of this film about Bob Biswas character who was contract killer in this film and loved his gripping performance.

Bob Biswas storyline is interesting and even exciting. The screenplay is fairly good but the excitement which an intriguing thriller should offer is missing in this film. But still drama keeps the audience involved reasonably well as the twists and turns come. The dark humor bit is very strong in this film and one of the USPs. Besides the thrill element, the family track of Bob is something to watch out for, especially his bond with Mary. A major problem is that a few bits are not explained, like how Bob lost his memory. The intentions of Jishu and Kharaj behind killing Bubai, Rahul etc. is bewildering and no attempt is made to explain the motive behind these killings.

Lastly, the pace of the film is slow and hence, it is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. The initial scenes of Bob are decent but nothing special. It is only when Bob kills his irritating neighbour (Kanchan Mullick) that the film goes on a different level. The scenes of Kali Da (Paran Bandopadhyay) are a delight. Post-interval, the interest is maintained, though the unhurried narrative does test patience at a few places. The pre-climax and climax is very arresting. The tribute to KAHAANI in the end is nicely done. Overall It is an interesting thriller and rests on a fine script, direction and performances. My view on this movie Recommended.
