Bloody Daddy Review: Mediocre action thriller with uneven ride that’s worth taking only if you’re a Shahid fan
Bloody Daddy Movie Rating: 2 Stars
Just watched Bloody Daddy movie on Jio Cinema. Let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Ankur Bhatia and Vivan Bhatena
Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
Release Date: 9th June 2023 on Jio Cinema
Story: It is the adaptation of 2011 French film Sleepless Night, which itself was remade in Tamil as Thoongaa Vanam.
Movie revolves around Sumair Azad (Shahid Kapoor) who is an NCB officer. He along with his deputy Jaggi (Zeishan Quadri) in Gurugram bust down a drug deal, leading the drug lord Sikandar (Ronit Roy) to kidnap the Sumair’s son Atharva in exchange for retrieving a bag of cocaine.
With no other option left, Sumair agrees to retrieve the bag from the NCB headquarters and bring it to his hotel for the exchange. Sadly, things go wrong for Sumair as the drugs go missing from his possession. Meanwhile, two anti-corruption officers, Sameer Singh (Rajeev Khandelwal) and Aditi Rawat (Diana Penty) are tracking each and every move of Sumair.
How Sumair saves his son Atharv (Sartaaj Kakkar) and deal with drug dealers and anti-corruptions officers is all about this film.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on premiere day because loved the trailer and its action sequences.
As soon as an undercover cop Sumair, busts a drug delivery racket in Gurugram, he gets blackmailed into returning the seized cocaine, after his son is kidnapped by a notorious drug lord Sikander.
Bloody Daddy appears to be two different halves stitched together. While the first half is engaging, humorous and pacy, the second half is predictable and tedious. It starts on a thrilling note, but the decline is seen pretty early. Since it is a story of one night, the film begins to feel stretched and dragged with little or no enthusiasm shown by the director to keep the audience engrossed with unexpected twists. Even if one hasn’t seen Sleepless Night, Bloody Daddy is easier to crack than a grade 1 math paper. In spite of having all the reasons to keep the runtime shorter, there’s an unnecessary song added to give some limelight to rapper-singer Badshah. The chase has to happen in the middle of an ongoing concert inside the hotel and this makes no sense. Kindergarten-level proceedings like Sumair hiding a bag full of cocaine in the attic of a washroom cubicle and leaving the place without erasing footprints, and a drug addict laughing stupidly are just the basic flaws.
The screenplay of the film dips considerably in the second hour. Films like Bloody Daddy have a very little margin for error and unfortunate for the film, it just doesn’t hold up as the story progresses. The father-son equation is not explored too well and that makes many actions by both parties through the course of the film, unjustified. The cinematic liberties and plot conveniences also pull the film down a fair deal. Finally, action, which is one of the film’s biggest strengths, becomes one of its weaknesses towards the business end because it just feels overdone.
Background music, cinematography of hotel and performances are major highlight of this film. The fun and engaging first hour of the film is followed by an underwhelming second hour, which makes the film ordinary and strictly a one-time watch. Overall, movie is an uneven ride that’s worth taking only if you’re a Shahid fan. Since it’s available for free on Jio Cinema, it is expected to fetch tremendous viewership. My view on this movie Time Pass.
