Bhoot Police Review: This horror comedy failed to impress due to poor script and direction

Just watched Bhoot Police movie on Disney Plus Hotstar VIP. So let’s focus on the cast, release date story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Story: Movie revolves around two tantriks brother Vibhooti (Saif Ali Khan) and Chiraunji (Arjun Kapoor). They are the sons of the famed Ullat Baba (Saurabh Sachdeva) who died when Chiraunji was just 5 years old. Vibhooti doesn’t believe in the existence of ghosts and spirits. he uses his profession to fool gullible people because of their superstitious beliefs and thereby makes money.
On the other hand his younger brother Chiraunji is of the firm belief that there are ghosts and spirits. If he had his way, he would want to practice exorcism in the right way as he is not in favor of making money by cheating people. One day, Maya (Yami Gautam) who runs the Silawar Tea Factory with her sister Kanika (Jacqueline Fernandez) told them that laborers have experienced the presence of a ghost (Kichkandi) in the estate. A similar spirit was seen at their place 27 years back and it was their father who had trapped it in a pot and kept it in a safe place in a forest.
While Vibhooti sees it as an opportunity to fool one more client while Chiraunji takes a liking for her and is keen to genuinely help her as he invariably desires to help all clients. A few days later many other labourers claim to have witnessed the spirit but the description of the kichkandi varies from person to person including Lata (Jamie Lever) and her husband Vinod (Rupesh Tillu) who are last one to see the ghost.
Vibhooti and Chiraunji venture into the forest and come across the tree where the kichkandi was trapped in the pot and stored. Chiraunji is shocked as he realizes that the pot is intact and unbroken. This means that the spirit is still inside. Hence, he concludes that the spirit troubling the estate at present is different. To make matters worse, Vibhooti claims that their father was also a conman and that the pot has no evil spirit. To prove his point, he breaks the pot. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in free time as trailer of this film was average and even movie is also good in parts.
Story of this film is half-baked and unimpressive. This film is designed as a horror comedy, it would not be incorrect to say that it neither frightens the viewers nor tickles their funny bone. The scary scenes fail to send chills down the spines. The banter between Vibhooti and Chiraunji is so irritating that it gets on people’s nerves after a point of time. Direction is hardly any better than the script. His narrative style fails to involve the audience which, therefore, passively watches the drama unfold. Overall film is a poor fare in all respects and my view on this movie Not Recommended
