Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in cinemas because loved the trailer and its India’s first creature-comedy.

A road construction contractor Bhaskar goes to Arunachal Pradesh to build a highway through the dense jungle of Ziro. Besides opposition from the tribals, his companion’s cousin JD, friend Jomin and he have a bigger challenge. A series of unexpected deaths take place soon after Bhaskar is bitten by a wild animal. Is it a figment of someone’s imagination, or a werewolf folklore come true?

The movie’s first half is extremely gripping. It perfectly sets the tone for what will unfold soon and also brings in a sense of intrigue. However, the second half seems stretched and loses momentum in parts. While it focuses on conservation and man-animal conflict, a subject that needs much dwelling upon, alongside it briefly touches upon the stereotyping of the people of Northeast, and how they have to often live with the outsider label. Besides plenty of light moments, there are tension-ridden as well as thrilling moments too. There is a twist in the climax, which shocks the viewers. After that twist, the climax becomes emotional and touches the hearts of the viewers. A good point about the screenplay is that it weaves in a message or two so effortlessly into the narrative that it doesn’t look preachy. The absence of a strong villain with a known face is sorely felt, especially in the climax because the audience wonders whom the hero is fighting after all.

Performances are excellent from all stars but for me Abhishek Banerjee and his witty dialogues are highlight of this film. Direction is lovely and narrative style in the rather difficult subject underlines his understanding of the craft and the medium. Music is average except ‘Apna bana le’ song which will be loved by all and sung by none other than Arijit Singh. Cinematography is outstanding. The never-before-seen locales are well captured, and it’ll make you want to explore the pristine beauty of the Northeast for sure

Overall, movie is an enjoyable fare with an important message. It works due to the novel idea, memorable performances and VFX which matches global standards. The film leaves you with an experience and a thought, maybe deeper than the forests of Ziro. So, set out and watch this one. For a howling good time, this one’s worth a hike to the theatres. There’s also a delightful surprise at the end. My view on this movie Highly Recommended.
