Betway ODI Series 2023: Bowlers dominates in Team India win against South Africa in the 1st ODI. They won the game by 8 wickets at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Now I will share the details of this game match in my way.

1st ODI (India Vs South Africa)
Game Date: 17 December 2023
Details:
South Africa skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bat first in the 1st game of ODI series against Team India at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Sai Sudharsan become 400th player to debut for Team India.

South Africa bowled out for just 116 runs in 27.3 overs after batting first. Arshdeep leads his team off the field as he raises the ball. India should have got a wicket off the very first ball but they didn’t review an lbw call against Hendricks. That hardly had an effect as Arshdeep nipped out Hendricks and van der Dussen off back-to-back deliveries. Tony de Zorzi decided to play his shots and that eventually led to his downfall as well. Klaasen became Arshdeep’s fourth victim and South Africa were reduced to 52/4 in 10 overs. Things went from bad to worse for the host with the introduction of Avesh Khan. There was some assistance for the seamers and the Indian bowlers kept their plans pretty simple. Few poor shots helped their cause as well. Phehlukwayo top-scored with 33 and Arshdeep removed him off his final over to pick up his maiden fifer. And, Kuldeep wrapped up the proceedings. Right then, India need 117 to win. They’ll fancy themselves to chase it down comfortably. Can the South African pacers spring in a surprise? Andile Phehlukwayo scored 33 runs of 50 balls and Tony de Zorzi scored 28 runs of 22 balls. For Team India, Arshdeep Singh picked 5 wickets for 37 runs in his 10 overs quota.

Team India successfully chase down the target by scoring 117/2 in 16.2 overs. India go 1-0 up. They have put up a blockbuster show. This is what you call a shellacking. SA were hammered by India in the WC and this looked like an extension of that. India didn’t have Kohli, Sharma, Bumrah, Shami, Jadeja but did it matter? Not at all. India were supreme. SA never arrived. They won the toss and batted. And then Arshdeep put up a superb show. He was backed up in an excellent manner by Avesh and together they picked up 9 wickets with the former picking up a fifer. Phehlukwayo top-scored with 33 but that was too late. He ensured though that they breached the triple digit mark. India wrapped it up inside 28 overs and 117 was never going to be threatening. Sai at the top was making his debut but it never looked like that. Ruturaj fell early to Mulder but Iyer walked in and batted positively. Both Sai and Iyer notched up fifties with Iyer falling with India needing only 6. Varma came in and just scored a single and that was the final piece of action in the first ODI. India have taken the lead without losing much sweat. Debutant Sai Sudharsan scored 55* runs of 43 balls and Shreyas Iyer scored 52 runs of 45 balls. For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder & Andile Phehlukwayo picked 1 wicket each.
