Team India Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2022-cricketmovie.com

BCCI announced Team India squad for upcoming home series and T20 World Cup 2022. The All-India Senior Selection Committee met today to pick India’s squads for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia and for the T20I series against Australia and South Africa at home. The squad was, however, missing all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who sustained an injury during the Asia Cup.

Along with Bumrah and fellow pacer Harshal Patel also returned to the side having missed out on the Asia Cup with a side strain. Rest of them team is same which has recent played the Asia Cup and its good to see that selectors are believing the players and not made any unexpected changes. Despite the Asia Cup setback where they failed to make it to the final after two successive defeats in the Super Four stage, India have not hit the panic button and have decided to stick with a majority of the players who travelled to the UAE. They have made only three changes from the Asia Cup squad, all of which have been forced.

Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the other two pacers in the squad, along with the all-rounder Hardik Pandya. R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel are the specialist spinners, with the latter ostensibly replacing Jadeja in the squad. The batting line-up is along expected lines with captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik all included. India’s squad is largely along expected lines with the identity of the fourth seamer and the second frontline spinner the only ones that needed to be decided following their exit at the Asia Cup.

While Arshdeep Singh holds on to his spot and offers a left-arm angle to the attack, Avesh Khan who conceded at an economy of 12 RPO in the two games that he played before being ruled out with an illness makes way for the returning Harshal Patel. Ravi Bishnoi who played a solitary game against Pakistan, will only be part of the reserves, with India preferring the experience of Ashwin to him. Ashwin can also offer a bit with the bat in hand, which perhaps could have spun it in his favour during the squad selection.
Deepak Hooda holds on to his spot despite getting few chances at the Asia Cup.

India squad for ICC T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.

Standby players – Mohd. Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Chahar.

Ahead of the marquee tournament, India will host Australia for a three-match T20I series followed by a T20I and ODI series against South Africa. India named their squads for both the T20I assignments, which will act as a dress rehearsal for all three sides. India have included Shami in squads for both series as well as Chahar while resting Arshdeep. Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been rested for the T20Is against South Africa. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan among the notable absentees.

While Shami hasn’t played T20Is since last year’s World Cup, Chahar made his international T20I comeback against Afghanistan in India’s last Asia Cup game. Australia will play their three T20Is at Mohali (September 20), Nagpur (September 23) and Hyderabad (September 25). South Africa will start their tour with T20Is at Thiruvananthapuram (September 28), Guwahati (October 2) and Indore (October 4). India will also play the Proteas in a three-match ODI series just before the World Cup, the squad for which will be announced in due course.

India Squad for Australia T20Is: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd. Shami, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah.

India squad for South Africa T20Is: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohd. Shami, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah.

Note: Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be reporting to the NCA for conditioning-related work during the course of the home series against Australia and South Africa.

The series against Australia will be a good opportunity for the Indian team to prepare for T20 World Cup 2022, which will be played in Australia next month. Recently, India witnessed a poor show in Asia Cup 2022 where they could not reach the final. In head-to-head encounters in T20Is, India and Australia have played 22 T20I games. India has won 13 games while Australia has won 9 games. While playing in India, both the teams have played 7 games. India has won 4 games while Australia has won 3 matches.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: As per my view Team India squad is now look more balanced in all three department if we compare their team combination of recent Asia Cup in which they unable to qualify for the finals. Although team will miss Ravindra Jadeja service but Axar Patel or Ashwin can balance the team in his absence.

I am surprised by the exclusion of Ravi Bishnoi from the squad as he was brilliant against Pakistan the only match he has played. Deepak Hooda should have been stand by instead of him as Hooda cannot play on the top and his performance in lower down the order is not impressive at all. It will only interesting to see how team will utilize Pant and Karthik.

I have no concern in the batting line up but have a suggestion for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to utilize Bhuvneshwar Kumar at least 3 overs in the powerplays as Bhuvi recent performances in death overs was very poor. Bumrah should bowl 2 overs in the power plays and 2 overs in the death overs. Arshdeep should bowl one over in powerplay and rest of the overs in death as he has bowled exceptionally well in last 5 overs in all the T20I he has played.

My Playing XI for World Cup: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-Captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal
