Avrodh Season 2 Review: Despite flaws and predictable story there are enough twists and turns in this season to make it a gripping watch
Avrodh Season 2 Web Series Rating: 3 Stars
Just watched Avrodh Season 2 Web Series on Sony LIV. Let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.
Cast: Abir Chaterjee, Aahana Kumra, Anant Mahadevan, Krishna Hebbale, Mohan Agashe, Neeraj Kabi, Rajesh Khattar, Sanjay Suri and Vijay Krishnan
Director: Raj Acharya
Release Date: 24th June 2022 (Sony LIV)
Duration: 9 Episodes/ 40 Minutes
Story: Avrodh Season 1 was the fictionalized account of the Indian Army’s surgical strike that followed the ghastly Uri terrorist attacks based on Shiv Avroor and Rahul Singh’s earlier book, India’s Most Fearless and Season 2 picks a chapter from the follow-up book and takes certain creative liberties. Both seasons are not linked by storyline or characters and can be watched independently of each other. But the common ground is definitely that it stays true to the spirit of the series, that it celebrates the courage of the Indian Army.
Series starts when Pradeep Bhattacharya (Abir Chatterjee), a income tax officer seize a consignment of counterfeit notes worth Rs 50 crore in Assam and is thereafter assigned to form a network to sieve out the truth behind counterfeit notes and militant activities across the country. He also doubles up as a Captain in the Indian Army in the Uri Sector.
Across the border, the main mastermind behind the impending attacks is Ehsaan Waziri (Sanjay Suri). His trusted aide Parveena (Ahana Kumra) is already in India putting his plan into action. That of blowing up 25 planes in one day. And this involves smuggling in 100 kilos of rdx, mobiles, printers, an explosive expert, fake currency notes and reviving a few separatist groups.
Pradeep is called to Kashmir to take down another Pakistani militant who beheaded an Indian soldier where Capt. Imtiaz Ahmed (Vijay Krishna) of ATF (Anti-Terror Fund Transfer Force) comes together to find a dastardly plan to break India. While Pradeep and Imtiaz are the man on a mission on the ground, Shailesh Malviya (Neeraj Kabi) is the National Security Advisor, strategizing with ministers, dignitaries and the Prime Minister himself at the PMO office to crack down these terrorist elements. How they stop the dastardly plan to break India is all about this series.
Positives
1. Excellent Performances
2. Story
3. Direction
4. Cinematography
Negatives
1. Length
2. Stretched
3. Slow screenplay
Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer planned to watch on premiere day because watch the first season and loved it and new season looks interesting.
Season two is another chapter of the bravery of the Indian Army and how they thwarted a major attack that would have taken India decades back economically. Income Tax Officer Pradeep Bhattacharya is on a money trail through sources. He finds information about a sinister plan of the neighbors Pakistan for another terror attack on India. How he and Capt. Imtiaz Ahmed of ATF (Anti-Terror Fund Transfer Force) come together to find a dastardly plan to break India?
Before 2016 and demonetization, a self-sustaining economic model was being set up to spread fake currency notes in India. Counterfeiting of currency has traditionally been a key weapon to sponsor terrorist organizations, criminal gangs and money launderers. It is a retelling of how the government and the armed forces worked tirelessly to cease militant activities and the outspread of fake notes in India. The basic setup and the plot of the series intrigue us immediately. The act of terrorism and the Army providing a counterattack is nothing new. The particular incident the subject is based on determines its excitement. Here the new form of terror attack planning is the exciting part.
There is abundant action as chase sequences, army operations and thrilling engagements take over some of the episodes. There is also plenty of detail as the series dives right into the thick of things portraying the meticulous planning on both sides. But that also works against the series in parts, as it begins to weigh heavy on the narrative dipping the pace considerably in some episodes, along with some cliched dialogues. Also, some characters are introduced and then left mid-way. Overall, season 2 works in parts and it is an intense watch packed with some thrilling action. Despite a predictable story arc, there are enough twists and turns in this season to make it a gripping watch. My view on this series Recommended.
