Sri Lanka bowled out for 160 runs in 43.1 overs after batting first. Karunaratne is the last man to fall, scored 75 in Sri Lanka’s total of 160. A fighting effort from him as he scored his first ODI fifty, which gave the crowd something to cheer. But this still doesn’t look like a target that’s going to trouble Australia too much. It’s a dry, slow pitch that’s taking turn, but most of Sri Lanka’s wickets were due to poor shots, bizarre run outs and even a hit wicket. There was a phase when they lost four wickets in 8 balls out of nowhere, before collapsing to 85/8. Let’s see what their bowlers can come up with. Australia chased down the target successfully by scoring 164/6 in 39.3 overs and won the game by 4 wickets but lost the series 2-3. Having posted an ordinary total of 160 earlier in the day, it was always going to be a tough task for Sri Lanka to defend it down. The hosts did manage to reduce Australia to 50/4 in the 15th over, but Labuschagne and Carey had a handy partnership following that. They added 51 runs for the 5th wicket, and although the visitors lost a few wickets after that stand, Carey and Green ensured there were no further hiccups. Was a pretty helpful pitch for the spinners, but Australia will be pleased with how they paced the innings and got over the line eventually. Alex Carey scored 45* of 65 balls and Marnus Labuschagne scored 31 of 58 balls. For Sri Lanka, Dunith Wellalage pick 3 wickets for 42 runs in his 10 overs.
