Team India scored 173/8 runs in 20 overs after batting first. Sri Lanka pulled it back towards the end, but this score could yet be a challenging one on a pitch where the ball’s not coming on as well as it did in the Pakistan game. Rohit was brilliant early on. He batted on a different level to completely turn the balance around after India had lost a couple of early wickets. The score was 110/3 when he was dismissed, with close to eight overs in hand. But the finishing kick didn’t arrive with wickets going down in a heap. Madushanka the star for Sri Lanka, both with the new ball and old. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 72 runs of 41 balls and Suryakumar Yadav scored 34 runs of 29 balls. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka picks 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Pakistan chase the target by scoring 174/4 in 19.5 overs and won the game by 6 wickets. Not to be. Just not to be. Sri Lanka won’t let it be. After nearly choking, they’ve turned the pressure around, and have inflicted a choke. And now India, have one foot on the flight back home. A proper see-sawing game this. From it looking done at the halfway mark with Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka smashing the hapless bowling around, to Chahal tossing the ball up, and spinning the game back in India’s favour, to the Sri Lankan middle-order feeling the heat and succumbing to some tentative cricket, to Dasun Shanaka once again stealing the show at the death, and to Pant and Arshdeep just not being able to knock three stumps down from a distance of ten feet. Oh it had everything. Kusal Mendis scored 57 of 37 balls and Pathum Nissanka scored 52 runs of 37 balls. For Team India, Yuzvendra Chahal pick 3 wickets for 34 runs in his 4 overs quota.
