Team India scored 192/2 in their 20 overs after batting first. A bit of an anomaly for the way India started the innings given their recent T20I record. Yes, the pitch was a bit sticky and the ball was nipping around, but it looked like the reigning champs played the first 10 overs in first gear. They were 70/1 at that stage, with KL Rahul continuing to find the going tough. He was dismissed in the 13th over, and out walked Suryakumar Yadav. And after that it was as though India were playing on a different surface, out came the swashbuckling scoops and drives, as it started raining sixes on a hapless Hong Kong bowling attack. Virat Kohli also found his form in the later half of the innings, striking a few trademark sixes on the leg side enroute to scoring a 50 after what felt like ages. In the final over, Surya plundered four sixes off Haroon Arshad, to end unbeaten on 68, giving India a very strong finishing score of 192/2. This should be enough with the quality of bowling and the nature of the opposition, but stranger things have happened in cricket before. Suryakumar Yadav scored 68* runs of 26 balls and Virat Kohli scored 59* runs of 44 balls. For Hong Kong, Ayush Shukla & Mohammad Ghazanfar picks 1 wicket each.

Hong Kong unable to chased the target and scored 152/5 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 40 runs. A comprehensive win for the defending champions! Hong Kong lost Yasim Murtaza early but Babar Hayat ensured that his team had a good powerplay (51/2). Captain Nizakat Khan got out off a free-hit with Jadeja scoring a direct hit and the scoring rate dipped significantly post that. The Indian spinners hardly offered any freebies in the middle overs and finished with combined bowling figures of 8-0-33-1. Zeeshan Ali and McKechnie hit a flurry of boundaries towards the end to reduce the margin of defeat. Rohit isn’t too pleased – probably because Avesh and Arshdeep were expensive today and their combined figures 8-0-97-2. Babar Hayat scored 41 of 35 balls and Kinchit Shah scored 30 runs of 28 balls. For Team India, Bhuvi, Avesh, Jadeja & Arshdeep picks 1 wicket each.
That's that from our second match at the #AsiaCup2022. #TeamIndia win by 40 runs.

– First time in 14 night T20Is in Dubai, a team has successfully defended a target. The previous instance came in the semifinal World Cup Qualifiers semifinal in Nov 2019 when PNG successfully defended 130 against Namibia.
Hong Kong will be very proud of their chase, but the target proved a tad too high.
India grab the win after fabulous performances in both innings. 🔥
They book their place in the Super 4, after tonight.💪🏻😍#INDvHK #ACC #AsiaCup2022 #GetReadyForEpic pic.twitter.com/m1GgZIijfL— AsianCricketCouncil (@ACCMedia1) August 31, 2022
