Army Of The Dead Review: Zack Snyder’s fresh concept on Zombies good in parts only
Army Of The Dead Movie Rating: 2.5 stars

Just watched Army Of The Dead movie on Netflix. So let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi and Garret Dillahunt
Director: Zack Snyder
Release Date: 21st May 2021 (On Netflix)

Story: A zombie outbreak leads to Las Vegas getting cut off from the rest of the United States. The walled-off city is deemed to be destroyed by the US govt by dropping a nuclear bomb and wipe out all the zombies at once. Before it is nuked though, mercenary Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) is approached by former casino owner Bly Tanaka (Hiroyuki Sanada) to break into the quarantine zone and recover 200 Million money from his casino vault. Scott is tasked with putting a crew together to find their way into the zombie-filled city, reach the casino, break into the vault then fly their way out on an abandoned helicopter.

Scott is quaintly yearning for a non-mercenary retirement selling lobster rolls in his food truck and for the mission he included soilder Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick), Mechanic friend Cruz (Ana De La Reguera), Lily (Nora Arnezeder), safecracker Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer), helicopter pilot Peters, (Tig Notaro) and sharp shooter and influencer Guzman (Raúl Castillo), who brings along his associate, Chambers (Samantha Win).

Scott’s estranged daughter Kate (Ella Purnell) works in a quarantine camp outside the city. When Ward asks her help to enter the city, she introduces him to Lily (Nora Arnezeder) who takes people into the city for a fee. Kate joins the team when she realises her friend Geeta (Huma Qureshi) a single mom has not returned from the city. A slimy security guard Cummings (Theo Rossi) and the casino’s head of security Martin (Garret Dillahunt) are also part of the team.

The plan, like all such plans, seem simple enough on paper, but then as is the nature of such things, rapidly goes south with the alpha zombie Zeus (Richard Cetrone) and his bride (Athena Perample) throwing spanners in the heist and the nuclear strike being brought forward so instead of a 36-hour window, the team have barely 90 minutes to crack the safe, get the money and run. There are as usual traitors in the mix with disparate agenda. Will team able to get money from vault and return back. What happen to Geeta to know you have to watch this film.

Positives
1. Good Performances
2. Cinematography
3. Background Music
4. Story

Negatives
1. Climax
2. Length
3. Direction
4. Screenplay

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned in my free time because movie is released in Hindi dubbed as well.

The film centers on Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) a mercenary with a troubled past who is approached by a shadowy millionaire to pull off a heist in Las Vegas. The problem is that Vegas has been abandoned and walled off after a zombie outbreak. The zombies who are still standing years later are smarter than the average slack-jawed straggler. Still, $200 million is up for the taking if Scott can assemble a team, get in, and get out in 36 hours before the United States nukes what remains of Sin City.

A zombie tiger, with an eye gouged out. A zombie king, whose headgear and cape will not look out of place at the Colosseum, leading his all-obeying zombie army. This is something new in Zombies movie as I have never seen this concept in any film. Length could have shortened and direction could have crisp because we had expected some more action and emotions that is missing in this film. My view on this movie (Time Pass)
