Amazon Prime Video made the biggest announcement to launch over 40 new titles in next 2 years

Amazon Prime Video made the biggest announcement to launch over 40 new titles in next 2 years. Yes, you have heard it right as titles will contian cross original series, original movies and co-productions that it plans to launch over the next 24 months, along with new multi-year licensing deals with some of India’s biggest and most successful studios.

The upcoming Amazon Originals will enthrall customers by offering a wide gamut of genres, ranging from cutting-edge thrillers, high-octane action, engaging dramas to light-hearted comedies and heart-warming romances, along with new genres like supernatural, horror, biographies, true-crime and investigative docudramas.

Amazon Prime video also announced its foray into original movie production in India with films in Hindi and Telugu, to be released directly on the service. The service recently completed half a decade of super-serving customers in India, and announced that it will more than doubling its investment in Prime Video India over the next 5 years. Prime Video aims to be a home for talent. It is working with a wide set of diverse creators with unique, cinematic voices from across the country. Almost 70% of the new upcoming titles will feature new talent for both in front of and behind the camera.

After launching Prime Video Channels last year, in another significant step towards creating a video entertainment marketplace, Amazon today also launched Prime Video Store, its transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) movie rental service in India. Customers can now get early access to the latest Indian and international movies, including a rich catalogue of popular movies (award winners and franchises) from around the world on a transactional (per-movie) basis. Prime Video’s customer footprint is set to expand even further as the TVOD rental service will be available to all Prime members, as well as, anyone who isn’t a Prime member. Customers will get early rental access to movies across languages and the rental service can be accessed via the STORE tab on primevideo.com and the Prime Video app.

For audiences OTT is like a new cinema halls and they sure enjoy the different contents as this time they have movies/series in multiple languages that means Amazon is targeting the audiences of all over the world with language of their choices.

Now I will discuss about all the movies/series announced for the release in next 24 months:

1. Ram Setu (Movie)
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandes, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Satyadev Kancharana
Director: Abhishek Sharma
Details: This is first movie which is co-produced by Amazon Prime Video and it will first release in cinemas on Diwali 2022 and then will premiere on prime. An atheist archaeologist turned believer must race against time to prove the true existence of the legendary Ram Setu before evil forces destroy the pillar of India’s heritage.

2. Farzi (Web-Series)
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Raashi Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Regina Cassandra, Zakir Hussain, Bhuvan Arora, Amol Palekar and Kubbra Sait
Director: Raj & DK
Details: An artist who gets pulled into the murky high stakes of a con job and a fiery task force officer on the mission to rid the country of his menaces in a fast-paced, edgy one-of-a-kind thriller.

3. Gulkanda Tales (Web-Series)
Cast: Kunal Khemu, Pankaj Tripathi and Patralekha
Director: Rahi Anil Barve
Details: This is third collaboration with acclaimed director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK with Amazon although they will not direct this series. It is directed by Rahi Anil Barve of Tumbbad fame and series will be a comedy of epic proportions.

4. Jubliee (Web-Series)
Cast: Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hyadri, Aparshakti Khurana and Wamiqa Gabi
Director: Vikramaditya Motwane
Details: Set in a newly independent India, Jubilee is a fictional period drama that unveils the stories and dreams that gave birth to Bollywood, as we know it.

5. PI Meena (Web-Series)
Cast: Tanya Maniktala, Jisshu Sengupta, Vinay Pathak, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Samir Soni
Director: Debaloy Bhattacharya
Details: A young, troubled, female private investigator gets thrown into a world, where she has to fathom the unfathomable and find her own self.

6. Happy Family Conditions Apply (Web-Series)

Details: A light-hearted family comedy about a quirky but lovable joint family that is always at loggerheads with each other.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : This is biggest announcement on digital platform and Amazon Prime Video has really impressed the OTT viewers. With this line-up I am sure multiple subscription will be purchased by audience. It will be interesting to see announcement plans for other OTT platforms because as of now Amazon Prime Video is way ahead of their competitors. Super exited for these line-ups.
