Story: Naina Jaiswal (Yami Gautam Dhar) is a much-loved teacher who runs a play school in her own house. After being on leave for some days, she returns just a day before her birthday. Her fiance Rohit Mirchandani (Karanvir Sharma) wants to bring in her birthday which Naina shares with one little student.

After the parents drop the kids off and leave the maid Savitri (Kalyanee Mulay) also leaves for some work then Naina calls the Colaba Police Station and informs them that she has taken 16 kids hostage. Her demand is to talk to a reputed cop Javed Khan (Atul Kulkarni). After she ends a call she gets a visitor a driver (Boloram Das) of one of the children, who has come to deliver a parcel. Naina ties him up as well.

Meanwhile, a pregnant cop, Catherine Alvarez (Neha Dhupia) arrives at the scene. Naina fires at her and this is when the cops realise that the matter is serious. Javed is asked to come down immediately. Her demands keep on increasing but the helpless police officers don’t know what she is doing all this for. She keeps sending out video messages and keeps talking to the police officers from time to time. Since she has a gun with her, the police and the students’ parents are terrified.

After her demand is fulfilled and after a child is allowed to leave, Naina puts forward her next demandis to talk to the Prime Minister of India, Maya Rajguru (Dimple Kapadia). What does Naina Jaiswal want? To know you have to watch this film.

1. Excellent Performances
2. Screenplay
3. Direction
4. Story

Negatives
1. Music
2. 2nd half bit slow
3. Unrealistic

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in my free time because trailer looks very thrilling apart from impactful performances.

When a playschool teacher takes her 16 students hostage and makes a set of demands, it not only rattles the Mumbai police and the city, but sends shockwaves through the country and its leaders.

A Thursday begin on very sweet but soon, the thrilling background score is played and one realizes that Naina has a sinister plan in her mind. The way she takes the kids hostage without making them feel that they are in such a situation and the way she negotiates with the cops has been done very nicely. On the flipside, it’s a little unconvincing to see that a person single-handedly was able to take the kids hostage and the cops and the commandos outside stood as mute spectators

Despite a rather predictable backstory, A Thursday redeems itself with its powerful emotional arc and social commentary in the latter half. It touches upon a relevant issue that will resonate with women across the globe. This may not be an edge of the seat thriller that evokes paranoia or fear but it dares to make an important point and that alone is its victory. Overall movie is laced with a taut script, first-rate execution and the finest performance. It’s a film that should have ideally come in cinemas. Had it been released on the big screen would have been sleeper hit. My view on this movie Highly Recommended.
