Glory Web Series Rating: 2 Stars
Watched Citadel Season 2 web series in Hindi on Netflix. So, let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.
Cast: Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, Ashleigh Cummings, Gabriel Leone and Jack Reynor
Director: Joe Russo and Greg Yaitanes
Release Date: 6th May 2026 on Prime Video
Duration: 7 Episodes/ 40 Minutes
Story: New season takes place immediately following the first season’s conclusion. Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci) finds himself in the custody of Paulo Braga (Gabriel Leone) who is the most influential and affluent member of Manticore. He forces him to give up a mind-control programmed that can be used to assassinate the Russian president for his own ulterior motive.
Bernard is halfway through making the chip when he cleverly escapes from Paolo’s estate. Help comes unexpectedly from James Hutch (Jack Reynor) who is an ex-CIA rogue officer. Meanwhile Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) is attempting to lead a peaceful life with her daughter Asha but one day she was attacked by a manticore agent but somehow, she survived.
In another part of the world, Mason Kane’s (Richard Madden) cover is blown when his wife Abby (Ashleigh Cummings) tries to escape and contact her daughter Hendrix. Bernard then assembles Nadia and Mason, along with Frank Sharpe (Matt Berry), and Hutch’s colleague and girlfriend, Celine Rohr (Lina El Arabi).
The mission is simple: stop Paolo from contacting an elusive Korean hacker nicknamed Edison and prevent him from completing the mind-control program at any cost. However, the challenges are aplenty. All these agents are wanted criminals and, moreover, they don’t get along with each other. Things are particularly tense between Nadia and Mason. How they succeed in their mission is all about this season.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer planned to watch this series on premiere day as trailers looks good and enjoyed the previous season in parts. Grappling with their recovered memories, Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane are pulled back into the dangerous world of espionage by Bernard Orlick. As they try to stay safe from Manticore, the Citadel agents must also thwart a global conspiracy that could have dangerous consequences.
Citadel Season 2 story works well as its novel, fresh and viewers won’t know what to expect. The screenplay is fast-paced and ensures there’s something happening every few minutes to keep the viewers invested. The scenes of Hutch are entertaining, especially when he rescues Bernard. The Greenpeace Gala stands out especially for its sets. The scene that is most memorable is the Citadel agents infiltrating CIA headquarters in Rome, Italy. The suspense of the assassin is also a surprise. There’s no denying that Priyanka Chopra Jonas is the best part of this new season. Compared to the previous season, she brings out more of the maternal, grounded, and emotionally vulnerable side of Nadia Sinh. Her moments with her daughter, Asha, are some of the season’s strongest. With Asha in the frame this time, Priyanka’s Nadia displays a broader emotional range, which is great to see. While the production and direction look stylish, it’s the narrative structure that may confuse many viewers because of its non-linear format. Still, new season does well in terms of pacing and action. The pacing in the first half of the season (especially the first three episodes) is relentless, and the action sequences look mostly well-choreographed, better than in Season 1. Episode 4 slows things down a bit, but the overall pace remains strong across all seven episodes. If you have a short attention span, then don’t worry, the second season has got you covered.
Series excels in the performance aspect. Priyanka Chopra has the ability to elevate ordinary scenes into something extraordinary. After several years away from Hindi cinema, she returns with Citadel 2, delivering some of her lines in Hindi, which enriches the cultural context. Richard Madden is impressive, while Stanley Tucci, Matt Berry, and Jack Reynor add humor, with their on-screen chemistry bringing some fun to the tense narrative. Gabriel Leone stands out as the menacing villain. Whether he is mind-controlling someone to kill his own brothers or threatening his son’s teacher, he is effective in every scene.
On the flipside, the second season of the spy thriller was anticipated to surpass the first, but unfortunately, the grandeur, style, and sharp cinematography are noticeably absent. Each episode runs for about 40 minutes, the pacing feels sluggish. The anticipated excitement often misses the mark, lacking intensity, speed, and depth. It boasts a strong cast, yet the chemistry among them falls flat. The settings are visually appealing, but a weak storyline renders them uninspiring. The action sequences come across as predictable and repetitive, with Nadia’s introduction being a standout moment. Citadel fails to take the necessary risks that a series of its nature should embrace in terms of scale, style, narrative, screenplay, and surprises. A crucial character in the end disappears and moreover, its laughable to see the agents coolly getting into high-profile events. This is especially in the G8 Summit scene. A particular sequence involving a torch is so silly that one wonders how it got approved. The overstuffed plot, forced twists, convenient writing and some unintentionally silly moments prevent it from becoming the gripping global espionage saga it aspires to be.
Overall, new season felt like a franchise that is being pushed for no reason. In case the creators decide to come forth with a third outing, they should note to deliver an intriguing storyline. Despite such a fast-paced approach, the generic nature of Season 2’s storyline may test your patience. Plus, the pacing doesn’t give the supporting characters enough room to breathe properly. It its sleek presentation and fast-paced energy, the show often prioritizes spectacle over substance, making it a mixed but watchable experience for action-thriller fans. My view on this web-series Not Recommended.
