Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in cinemas as loved the trailer especially its music. Brooding, abrasive rising musical sensation Krish Kapoor is anchored by a simple, stoic lyricist Vaani Batra who rediscovers her words after heartbreak through his love. Their romance and Krish’s meteoric rise to stardom hit a hurdle with a tragic turn of events.

Saiyaara has a predictable yet lovely story of sadness mixed with the love of two vulnerable young lovers. The drama is so fast paced and so engrossing that it sucks the audience in completely and totally. The emotions are so strong and so many that they tug at the heart strings at a number of places. Some scenes that stand out are Krish’s dramatic entry, Vaani admonishing Krish for not being able to pen the lyrics, Vaani confessing about her past while Krish plays cricket. Post-interval, the madness that occurs backstage is very dramatic. The pre climax is gripping while the finale is moving. This film is a musical treat. The songs make the story even more emotional and rich. There were many more heartwarming dialogues throughout the film apart from the aforementioned few dialogues. Inarguably, the second-best thing that happened to the film after the songs. The soul of the film is its two new faces, Ahaan and Aneet. Ahaan looks quite impressive in emotional scenes, while Aneet’s performance is very balanced and sensitive. The chemistry between the two is natural and is expressed more through the eyes. It is commendable for new actors to show such grip. Mohit Suri has once again beautifully adapted a classic love story to present times. Full marks to him for juxta positioning modernity with traditional values so beautifully. He has extracted great work out of the two new lead actors.

While movie excels in many areas, its story feels familiar. The narrative, though executed with finesse, treads a predictable path. This might leave viewers craving a touch of originality. However, these minor flaws are overshadowed by the film’s overall polish and execution. Uneven pacing intermittently slows things down and often rushes through pivotal turns. Moments of raw emotion do land, though a slightly rushed climax leaves much to be desired. Although there are multiple other characters in the film, apart from the lead actress’s mother character, none of the other characters make any impact on the audience. Especially, the ending given to the lead actor’s father character should have been much better and more impactful. Intense romantic dramas usually have a very slow pace. It also suffers from a similar issue. The proceedings in the second half move at a lethargic pace. Also, the screenplay of the film is a bit predictable and at times feels too convenient. A tighter, more cohesive screenplay and sharper editing could have elevated the story to greater heights. At 2 hours and 36 minutes, the film feels needlessly stretched. Some scenes unfold in what seems like real time. Overall, movie is a beautifully crafted romantic drama that triumphs through its stellar performances, enchanting music, and Mohit Suri’s masterful direction. Despite a familiar storyline, the film’s emotional depth and heartfelt chemistry make it a must-watch. In the end, what makes this musical romance work is its earnestness, its emotional core, and the freshness of its leads. My view on this movie Highly Recommended.
