Asur 2 Review: worthy sequel that cannot be missed despite lengthy episodes

Just watched Asur 2 first 2 episodes on Jio Cinema. Let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Story: The season starts immediately after the events of the first part. Dhananjay (Arshad Warsi) is suspended from his services, has taken shelter at a Buddhist monastery in the hills. Reeling under the emotional baggage of losing his confidant Lolark (Sharib Hashmi) and his inability to find Shubh (Amey Wagh). He struggles to bring his life back to normalcy.
On the other hand, Nikhil (Barun Sobti) cannot come out of the trauma of losing his daughter Riya. His wife, Naina (Anupriya Goenka) blames him and holds him responsible for killing their child. She wanted him to sign the divorce paper. Meanwhile, Ishani (Adithi Kalkunte Shyamprasad) joins the CBI. She’s sharp and intelligent and while working on the murder case of Officer Lolark.
She realizes that Rasul Shaikh could be the murderer. She informs about her observation to her senior, Shashank Awasthi (Pawan Chopra) and also later to Nikhil. As CBI grapples with finding Shubh and stopping him from committing any more murders, a surprise development takes place. What happens next forms the rest of the series.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer planned to watch this series on premiere day as loved the 1st season and trailer of 2nd part is also looks very engaging.
After being convicted at the end of season one Shubh returns for revenge and this time he takes the challenge to a whole new level. With the heroes fallen apart, will a desolate Dhananjay Rajpoot and a torn Nikhil Nair be able to stop him?
Asur 2 story is thrilling and praiseworthy. Screenplay is highly engaging. A lot happens in the show at every moment, and one can’t help but get thoroughly involved with the goings-on. The way the writers have fleshed out the character of Shubh and his thought process are seen to be believed. Wrapped in a cover of mythology, Asur 2 is a crime thriller that shocks, satisfies and seamlessly brings the world of forensics to your doorstep. Spread over 8 episodes of almost 60 minutes, the series is grippy enough to hold attention despite the long and elaborate story. When Asur 2 delves into the ‘mythology meets crime’ zone, there’s nothing that can match the intensity, urgency and excitement. All of the decisions taken by the characters are driven by their personal emotional motive. As layers of the story are peeled off, a new set of twists is ready to unfold. There’s no space for a loo break especially in the final three episodes. Several theories could be developed throughout the series.
There are cliffhanger endings to episodes. Some of the twists and turns are nail-biting and wonderfully executed. While the initial few episodes lack pace and tension as the characters are more soaked in melancholy than finding a solution to their problems. Religious brainwashing, financial fraud and the overall political tension that the country has experienced in the last few years are incorporated smartly. As compared to the first season, there are numerous new characters that make their debut in this world. Some of them work wonders and take the story to its conclusion, some just seem to be another addition. Overall, series is a compelling mythological thriller that continues to thrill right up to the very end. Without a question, this is a must-watch sequel. My view on this series Highly Recommended those who have watched 1st season.
