Story: This is the fourth installment in the John Wick film series which is the story of an assassin fighting the higher authorities. In New York city, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) prepares to seek revenge against the High Table while hiding underground with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne). Wick first kills the Elder (George Georgiou) who was the only person above the High Table.

Because of this, Marquis Vincent de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård), a senior member of the High Table, strips Winston Scott of his duties as manager of New York Continental Hotel. Marquis then enlists Caine (Donnie Yen), a blind High Table assassin and an old friend of John Wick to kill him.

Many incidents and murders later, ex- manager of the New York Continental Hotel and friend of John Wick, Winston (Ian McShane) asks John to challenge Marquis to a duel because winning the duel will free him of his obligation to the High Table. For this, John has to join a crime family, which he does by killing Killa (Scott Adkins), the head of the German Table. The stage is set for a duel between John Wick and de Gramont in a meeting moderated by the Harbinger (Clancy Brown), the Table’s Emissary. He nominates a reluctant Caine to fight in his place. What happens thereafter is all about this film.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on release day because watch previous 3 films of this franchise and loved it. For the first time I have watched a movie in paid Previews (One day before release).

With the price on his head ever increasing, legendary hit man John Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Japan to Berlin.

John Wick 4 has an engrossing story and an interesting screenplay. From the start to the end, the film has stunning action sequences that will make one come to the edge of the seat. The film has a high number of deadly headshots and carves through the flesh and bone of the assassins. Action lovers will enjoy those amazing stunts for sure. The last hour is a feast for people who love the John Wick franchise and action lovers, as it is filled with mind-blowing, non-stop action sequences. The wonderful visuals shot in Paris, New York and Berlin are spectacular to watch on the big screen. Keanu Reeves delivers his best performance in this part. Like in the previous parts, the character speaks less and kills more! Reeves looks more fierce in action sequences. The next important character to mention is Caine, played by Donnie Yen. The Ip Man actor’s performance as a blind assassin is absolutely stunning and his tactics to fight John and others will wow audiences for sure. His dialogues, especially with John Wick, are really good.

On the flip side makers should have thought of showcasing the backstory of several key characters. The old bond between John and Caine is not well explained. Mr Nobody’s actions are a bit unconvincing. The same also goes for the scene where John attacks Killa in the nightclub while the dancers continue to make merry and don’t seem alarmed even one bit! And though the film isn’t boring, the action scenes in the first half give a feeling of been-there-done-that. The epic face-off moment in the climax should have been showcased well to create more tension.

Overall, it redefines the gold standard for the genre and delivers much more than it promises. The compelling action sequences, short and sharp dialogues, and stunning visuals make the film an epic action thriller. Barring the length and few shortcomings, one can enjoy the film throughout. My view on this movie Highly Recommended for action lovers and fans of this franchise.
