Criminal Justice Season 3 Final Episode Review: Engaging court room drama but not the toughest case for Madhav Mishra
Criminal Justice Season 3 Rating: 3 Stars
Finally watched Criminal Justice Season 3 finale episode on Disney Plus Hotstar. Let’s analyze the cast, release date, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.
Cast: Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Basu Prasad, Purab Kohli, Swastika Mukherjee, Gaurav Gera, Aditya Gupta and Deshna Dugad
Director: Rohan Sippy
Release Date: 8th Episode on 10th October 2022 (Disney Plus Hotstar)
Duration: 8 Episodes/ 35 Minutes
Story: It is 3rd season of Hotstar specials popular criminal series. In the precious episodes the pace really picked up as we had a fresh suspect to look at Mahendra Awasthi (Chandresh Singh), the plot owner of the place Zara (Deshna Dugad) was scheduled to shoot at in the first episode. We also discovered that Mukul (Aditya Gupta) did not really run away from the juvenile centre eventually and is back waiting for his case to progress.
Tension between Lekha (Shweta Basu Prasad) and Madhav Mishra (Pankaj Tripathi) rise. Lekha will do anything to win the case and Madhav Mishra will do anything to bring the truth to light.
Lekha successfully tries to disregard the pieces of evidence and testimonies gathered by Mishra ji who continues to strive to prove Mukul’s innocence irrespective of the obstacles in his way. Ultimately, we get a court climax filled with confrontation, some very un-Madhav Mishra-like glamour and the revelation of who actually killed Zara Ahuja on that fateful night.
Positives
1. Excellent Performances
2. Screenplay
3. Direction
Negatives
1. Story lacks Novelty
2. Length
3. Climax
Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I watched the trailer planned to watch this series on each episode on premiere day because loved last 2 seasons and another reason is Pankaj Tripathi.
The Ahuja’s lives are upended when 14-year-old Zara Ahuja, the nation’s beloved child star is ruthlessly murdered. Things become much more complicated when her 17-year-old stepbrother Mukul becomes the prime suspect in the case. Some lies, some half-truths, and a few revelations come to the fore when lawyers Madhav Mishra and Lekha represent each side and meet at court.
Season 3 does not waste time but propels the viewer into the story right from the word go. Screenplay is quite engaging and keeps the viewer hooked at almost all times. Performances are also excellent. One striking thing about this season is its theme. We have seen shows and films based on adolescents falling prey to substance abuse, but there is a distinct innocence about Adhura Sach that makes it believable. The makers, thankfully, haven’t gone overboard with the wild teen’s idea. The Indian society is still far away from what we have seen of the American teens and their issues, and it shows in the writing. This makes the show relatable. However, the show for the most part really lacked a sense of direction and good pacing making it uneven and uninteresting at certain times.
The third season falls really short and given how the latest season has been marketed as Madhav Mishra’s toughest case ever, it does not really resonate with that statement in reality if we compare the precious seasons. Overall, Watch this season for a gripping watch with a good screenplay and tight performances. Not sure why the makers have adopted for such streaming strategy because if they release all episodes in one go then it would make the better impact. My view on this series Recommended.
