Doon Kaand Review: Never expected such pathetic crime drama from such talented actors
Doon Kaand Web Series Rating: 1.5 Stars

Just watched Doon Kaand web series on Voot. So, let’s analyze the cast, story, release date, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this web series.

Cast: Iqbal Khan, Donal Bisht, Indraneil Sengupta, Karamveer Mehra and Nidhi Seth
Director: Manoj Khade
Release Date: 18th July 2022 (MX Player)
Duration: 10 Episodes/ 20 Minutes

Story: SSP Arvind Rawat (Mohammed Iqbal Khan) is a dutiful cop and family man from Dehradun. As he leads a happy life with his wife Tamanna (Donal Bisht) and their young daughter Muskaan (Diya Jain). He also wants to wipe off crime from the quaint valley. His modus operandi of bringing criminals to the book includes exploiting their weakness, but he’s equally mindful of never harming innocent people.

His thoughtful demeanour enables him to turn a crook into a police informer and start life afresh and is equally supported by his junior Amit (Riyaz Shanur Mulani). As Arvind goes about busting a drug ring in Doon, his old-time nemesis Naresh (Indraneil Sengupta) is released from jail after 10 years. Back in the day, Arvind cracked a double-murder case which Naresh and his identical twin brother Paresh (Karan Veer Mehra) committed to take on a rival gang and become the new kingpins.

Arvind hunts the duo down and imprisons Naresh, but he also becomes the reason for the criminal’s tragedy in the bargain. A blood-thirsty Naresh sets out to avenge his downfall while re-establishing himself as the mafioso with his loyal henchman Vitthal’s (Abhinay Sharma) help.

He abducts Tamanna and Muskaan and challenges Arvind to save them while giving him tasks to do without involving his colleagues. What follows is a standard trope of a suspense thriller Arvind’s aides are killed, cracking the clues, a mole at the police station, a chase, and whether the senior cop manages to save his world.

Positives
1. Performances
2. Cinematography

Negatives
1. Story
2. Climax
3. Screenplay
4. Direction

Durgesh Tiwary’s View: When I have watched the trailer of this series planned to watch in free time because loved the trailer and also, I am fan of Mohammed Iqbal Khan.

SSP Arvind Rawat comes face-to-face with his old-time nemesis Paresh. His family is in danger. Can he bring his family back from the evil clutches of Paresh. The story revolves around an SSP of a hill town in India living with his small family and becomes a target of revenge for nabbing a drug lord a decade ago and getting him sentenced. As soon as the antagonist is out of the prison, the cat and mouse game between him and the protagonist begins.

Doon Kaand has a plot with all the required ingredients for a revenge thriller however the makers bring nothing original or new to the table. The end of this series is not only predictable but also boring. Even though most of the performances were good, there are multiple sequences in Doon Kaand that seem unrehearsed and also loosely executed with uneven dialogue delivery, especially by the new supporting actors. The picturization is marvelous with breathtaking landscapes. Series is fast paced but also seems jerky in a few instances. For example, when Arvind and his junior officer go to save their colleague, the sequence is entirely skipped, and the two only talk about what happened. The ease with which Naresh kidnaps Arvind’s wife and daughter also seems too convenient.

The series touches upon equal rights for women in a couple of instances. Arvind tells Tamanna that as an independent woman, she should take up a job she wants without discussing it with him. Her father also says she should pursue a career of her choice instead of fulfilling his expectations of her. These are only few moments which is are good in series else there is nothing for which you need to watch these 10 episodes. My View on this web-series Not Recommended
