Beast Hindi Review: Shoddy narrative and screenplay impacted this stylish action comedy in big way
Beast Hindi Movie Rating: 2 Stars

Just watched Beast movie in Hindi on Netflix. So let’s focus on the complete details, story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.

Cast: Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu and VTV Ganesh
Director: Nelson
Release Date: 13th April 2022 in Cinemas & Digital Premiere on 11th May on Netflix

Story: Veera Raghavan (Vijay) is an Indian RAW agent is assigned to capture the terrorist Umar Farooq (Lilliput) in Kashmir. While he successfully manages to do so, a missile shot by him to prevent Farooq’s escape kills a child whom he personally knew. The event traumatizes Veera, who quits RAW.

After 11 months, Veera is still reeling from the after-effects of the child’s death and is suffering from PTSD. He meets Preethi (Pooja Hegde) at a wedding and falls for him, who convinces him to join her security agency headed by Dominic Irudhayaraj (VTV Ganesh).

Along with Preethi and Irudhayaraj, Veera visits the East Coast mall, which is the last client of their agency where he observes suspicious activities in the mall and deduces that someone else has taken over it. The terrorists dressed as Santa Claus hijack the mall and demand the release their leader Farooq. The government negotiator led by Veera’s ex-associate Althaf Hussain (Selvaraghavan) try to negotiate with the terrorists.

The Indian government yields in to the demands of the terrorists, but Veer knows that releasing the terrorist head is detrimental to the interests of the country. How he saves all those held captive forms the crux of the drama.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie on digital premiere because trailer was very good.

A former RAW officer, who is among the hostages in a mall taken over by terrorists, has to foil their plans and prevent the government from releasing a dreaded terrorist, who he had helped put in prison at great personal cost.

Beast story is oft-repeated and therefore, lacks novelty. Screenplay moves at a very slow pace and gives the audience a lot of time to think. A thriller like this ought to have such a fast pace that no questions can crop up in the audience’s minds. In the alternative, the questions need to be addressed by the writer. Nelson has added a lot of comedy in the drama but the comedy dilutes the impact of the tension-ridden drama which even otherwise moves at a slow pace.

The problem with Beast is that it has a protagonist who is too strong given a mission that never seems to be a challenge. Furthermore, the victims sit with such deadpan expressions while they are held captive in the shopping mall that the viewers wonder whether they even understand the repercussions of being kidnapped. The unwitting revelation of Veer’s plan to one of the terrorists is so childishly written that it further dilutes the impact of the drama. My view on this movie Time Pass only if you are Vijay fan.
