Minnal Murali Review: Our first Malayalam superhero is here to stay
Minnal Murali Movie Rating: 3 Stars
Finally watched Minnal Murali movie on Netflix. So let’s focus on the cast, release date story, positive/negatives and at last my personal view on this movie.
Cast: Tovino Thomas, Femina George and Guru Somasundaram
Director: Basil Joseph
Release Date: 24th December 2021 in Netflix
Story: The film begins with a poignant image. Little Jaison is watching a play about a saint who delivers justice and fights evil. But an explosion leads to the death of the actor, and Jaison watches the flames go up, his eyes glued to the stage. As a grown man, Jaison (Tovino Thomas) seems to have shaken off what he witnessed that day in his childhood and dreams of building a career in the United States.
His girlfriend Bincy (Sneha Babu) who dumps him for a rich guy Aneesh (Jude Anthany Joseph). Meanwhile, Shibu (Guru Somasundaram) is a social outcast who works in a teashop. Shibu is in love with Usha (Shelly Kishore) who is the sister of Daasan (Harisree Ashokan) who works in Jaison’s father’s tailor shop.
One day, both Jaison and Shibu get hit by the same lightning strike on Christmas Eve. Jaison is taken to the hospital but surprisingly, he does not have any physical problem. In the following days, Jaison and Shibu show signs of superpowers. Sibhu wanted Usha at any cost and started misused his superpower while Jaison is also trying to use his power in right way and at the end both Sibhu and Jaison comes face to face and what happen next is all about the story.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : When I watched the trailer of this film planned to watch this movie in my free time because movie is based on superhero concept which I always fond of.
Jaison is a tailor who is trying hard to leave the village to make it big by finding a job in the US. He is angry when his girlfriend decides to ditch him for a more successful guy. During X’mas time, he reaches her house dressed up as Santa Claus and challenges her father, the sub inspector of the area, S I Sajan. Just then a lightning bolt strikes Jaison and he falls down. He is taken to the nearby hospital but though the doctor doesn’t find anything wrong with him, he slowly realizes that he has acquired some super powers. Now the tale of Jaison becoming Minnal Murali starts from there. There is a twist in the story, with another man in the area, Shibu attaining superhero powers the same night, after he is also struck by lightning.
First Malayalam superhero film with ordinary story of a man who become superhero and don’t even know about this powers. Not matches the level of superheroes that I have seen in other Bollywood and Hollywood films but it is good beginning with excellent performances. Film ends suggest that there will be sequel as well and looking forward a good story and ultimate VFX level so that they can match with superheroes as well. Story, performances and climax are the major highlights of this film that is enough for you to watch this film. My view on this movie Time Pass.
