Rajasthan Royals scored 220/3 runs their 20 overs. They finished with a flourish and 109 runs coming off the last 7 overs. Carnage is an understatement. It was the Buttler show on full-display here. After losing the toss and put into bat, RR lost Jaiswal in the third over. But Buttler and Samson took charge, bided their time and made merry against some ordinary bowling from SRH. They saw off the Rashid threat and after that, they went after everyone disdainfully. Of course, they rode their luck although must say Buttler was quite lethal at the back-end, reached his maiden IPL ton and ensured that RR rack up 220 their highest ever total batting first. Change in captain, change in strategy, will SRH match this performance with the bat? Yesterday, we saw MI chasing 200-plus, so can take that motivation factor. Sunrisers Hyderabad unable to chase the target and scored only 165/8 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 55 runs. The flags are flying high in the Royals setup. 55-run victory is huge in this format and they have done themselves a world of good to improve on their net run rate in the mid table. 221 was obviously very tough. And their No. 1 man to do that wasn’t picked today for “team combination” reasons. Two batters, Rashid and one all-rounder was best for them they felt, but that all-rounder was hardly used today. In the quest of getting Buttler and Samson, they bowled out Rashid Khan inside 11 overs, the first time Rashid has done it in IPL history. Pandey opened with Jonny B. SRH did get off to a good start, but Fizz knocked over the former, before Jonny mishit Tewatia to long-on. It was just a struggle from there on as Morris and Fizz shared six wickets between them to close out the game. Manish Pandey scored 31 of 20 balls and Jonny Bairstow scored 30 of 21 balls.
