CSK won by 6 wickets against PBKS-cricketmovie.com

Vivo IPL Match 8: CSK beat PBKS by 6 wickets in 8th game of IPL 2021. Now I will share the details of this IPL game match in my way.

8th Game (Punjab Kings Vs Chennai Super Kings)
Game Date: 16th April 2021
Details:
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first in the 8th game of IPL 2021. CSJ made no changes in their playing XI and included Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo as four foreign players for this game.

No changes in PBKS playing XI and four foreign players of PBKS for this game was Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith.

Punjab Kings scored 106/8 in their 20 overs. CSK will be delighted with this. An exceptional performance with the ball, led by Deepak Chahar‘s career-best in the IPL of 4/13. He started it all with a beauty to smash Mayank Agarwal’s off stump, and then proceeded to dismantle the top half of Punjab’s batting. Like yesterday, there’s help in the pitch for the seamers. But some of the shots we saw today left a lot to be desired. Shahrukh Khan was the only shining light but it’s highly unlikely his effort would be enough to cut through the gloom for Punjab. Shahrukh Khan scored 47 of 36 balls and Jhye Richardson scored 15 of 22 balls. For CKS Deepak Chahar picks 4 wickets for just 13 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Chennai Super Kings successfully chase the target by scoring 108/4 in 15.4 overs. What a convincing win for CSK. After the way Punjab batted in the first game and then peeping into CSK’s bowling line-up and effort, many thought we had another high-scorer at the Wankhede but CSK made great use of the toss and the grass on the surface. With no dew and a bit of grass, Chahar is a handful and so is Curran who can move the ball around. Everything went to plan for the Men in Yellow. And Chahar did plan well for today’s game but he was rewarded for his execution. Mayank’s dismissal was a peach and then Rahul ran himself out under pressure. Chahar used his knuckles quite well and it was 26/5 in no time. SRK pushed it to 106 but the target was too small on a very good batting surface once you see out the new ball. Ruturaj fell cheaply again but Moeen timed the ball sweetly to put CSK in command while Faf held anchor at one end. They lost a few quick wickets looking to finish off the game and KL did use whatever time he had to test out Meredith since he backs him to come good after the first game. Moeen Ali scored 46 of 31 balls and Faf du Plessis scored 36* of 33 balls. For PBKS Mohammed Shami picks 2 wickets for 21 runs in his 4 overs quota.

PBKS: 106/8 in 20 overs
CSK: 107/4 in 15.4 overs

Result: Chennai Super Kings won by 6 wickets
Man of the Match: Deepak Chahar

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : Congratulations to CSK for their first win of this season. Incredible swing bowling from Deepak Chahar and his career best bowling performances restrict PBKS to below par total. Batsmen also able to finish the game convincingly without much hiccups. A complete win for CSK and lets see how they fare further.

For PBKS batting was biggest concern for this match. Although in first game they were outstanding with the bat so they don’t need to worry much. But Nicholas Pooran form is concern for this team because he has not scored single run in 2 games in a team in which they are only 5 specialist batsmen. Bowlers were good but due to below par total unable to defend the target. Hoping that they can perform better from further games.

Stats
Raina has composed 814 runs at an average of 42.84 and strike rate of 151.97 against PBKS in the IPL
