Indian Team for Australia Tour 2020-cricketmovie.com

BCCI announced the Team Indian squad for upcoming tour of Australia. Yesterday all-India Senior Selection Committee met via video-conference to select the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming Tour of Australia. Team India will take part in three T20Is, three ODIs and four Test matches against Australia.

India will be touring Australia in a bio-secure bubble in November where they take part in four Test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is after the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2020 campaign. Indian cricket team is selected for all three formats.

So first of all I will discuss about Indian Test Team Squad:

Rohit Sharma, who is currently injured for Mumbai Indians, hasn’t been named in any of the three squads. The selection committee, led by former India spinner Sunil Joshi, didn’t name him in the squads because the protocol prevents them from including any player injured at the time of selection.

The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of both Rohit and Ishant Sharma, who has suffered an abdominal injury whilst training for Delhi Capitals. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also not selected due to his injury.

KL Rahul has been named in India’s Test squad with his fellow Test returnee Kuldeep Yadav while seamer Mohammed Siraj gets a call-up in an 18-member Test squad. The bio-secure bubble in Australia, however, will also include four reserve bowlers Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kartik Tyagi, Ishan Porel and T. Natarajan who will help with the training in the absence of the net bowlers.

Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw are the two designated openers in the squad while uncapped Shubman Gill has also earned a call. Now it will interesting to see where KL Rahul will bat if selected and what team combination will be selected by Virat Kohli when Rohit sharma will declare fit.

The pink ball Test is scheduled to be held at Adelaide Oval between December 17-21. This will also remain as the backup venue for the Boxing Day Test, if Melbourne is not able to host it due to Covid-19 restrictions. The final two Tests will be held in Sydney (January 7-11) finally Brisbane (January 15-19).

Now lets discuss about Indian ODI’s team squad:

Mohammed Shami, who was rested for that series following the tour of New Zealand, will take his place with Shardul Thakur providing a back-up option. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul has been named the vice-captain. Shubman Gill, who had made his ODI debut last year during the tour of New Zealand, has earned a recall. Mayank Agarwal is also in the side and can open the innings alongside senior opener Shikhar Dhawan.

Prithvi Shaw is not selected for ODI team due to his ongoing mediocre performance in IPL. But shocking decision for me is wicket-keeper batsmen Rishabh Pant is dropped from the squad. Hardik Pandya has not played for India since last September also get the chance in the team.

India’s tour of Australia will start with the three-match ODI series. The first two ODIs on November 27 and 29 will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, while the third ODI and first T20I will take place at the Manuka Oval. Thereafter, the teams return to Sydney for the remaining two T20Is.

Now lets discuss about Indian T20’s team squad:

KKR mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has received his maiden India call-up for the upcoming T20I tour of Australia. The spinner has earned the call-up just a couple of days after claiming a five-fer against DC in the ongoing IPL 2020.

Due to absence of Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal a spot in the shortest format for the very first time. The 29-year-old opener has lit up the IPL this season scoring almost 400 runs in the 10 games he has played so far. Mayank might still not be the favorite though to pair up with Rahul straightaway as veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan has forced himself back into contention 12 months ahead of the World Cup.

Rishabh Pant is also not selected for the T20 squad as per me he should included. Allrounder Shivam Dube and spinner Kuldeep Yadav have been dropped from T20 squad. Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya, who missed India’s last T20 assignment in New Zealand, have reclaimed their places.

Sanju Samson, who was present in New Zealand, has been retained as the backup keeper. With Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey retaining their spots in the squad, there was no place for the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, who had a strong domestic season.

The T20I series will start from December 4 at the Manuka Oval. Thereafter, the teams will return to Sydney for the remaining two T20Is. Prior to the T20Is, both the teams will lock horns in a three-match ODI series. After the T20Is, the four-match Test series will take place.

Durgesh Tiwary’s View : After the poor performance in ODI’s and Test series in New Zealand, Team India is touring Australia and last tour was very successful. But in that series David Warner and Steve Smith were not there but it will tough challenge for Indian Team. India is currently on the top in World test championship so expecting them to be on the top after the end of test series as well.

Now in view Team India squad is perfect and they have balanced team who can win on Australian soil but expecting Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma to be fit as they are key players. India lost T20 and Test series against New Zealand in absence of Rohit as openers were not able to perform and score big runs. Apart from that very sad for Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant as both should at least included in T20 squad.

Good luck Team India for upcoming Australia Tour !!
